Exhibition Pavel Makov - Gardens
Pavel Makov
A Picnic (detail) 2005

UA: An Attempt at Versailles (as part of the ‘Alternatives’ series)

18.4.2007 - 17.6.2007

19 - 21 Husova St., Prague 1 – Old Town

In his installation work and printmaking, Pavel Makov (born 1958 in St Petersburg, lives and works in Khark'ov, Ukraine) deals with the fundamental question of place as the 'utopian' focal point of identity and memory. Makov presents his latest project, entitled 'Gardens', in the evocative setting of the museum's Romanesque cellar - here, the garden is seen as the unique and most dramatic conception of all human beings, the metaphor of our life, political ambitions and wish for calmness - both never achieved, but always longed-for.
